SF Pulse Jet Fabric Filter versus the Reverse Air Filter

The advantages of the SF Pulsejet Fabric Filter over the Reverse Air type filter can be summarised as follows:

  • The design of the SF series pulsejet fabric filter allows larger areas of filtering cloth to be installed when compared with a reverse air type filter of the same dimensions.
  • The pulsejet fabric filter performs bag cleaning whilst the bags are on line therefore all the cloth area is available for filtration at all times. The reverse air filter shuts off a large proportion of the cloth area at any time to perform bag cleaning.
  • Pulsejet bag cleaning allows heavier more efficient filter cloth to be used, 500g/m² compared to 400g/m² normally used in reverse air type fabric filters.
  • The pulsejet bag cleaning process does not introduce large quantities of cold damp atmospheric air into the baghouse which cools collected air, often requiring reverse air type filters to be insulated, and accelerates internal corrosion and bag blinding. These factors allow the SF Pulsejet Fabric Filter to offer both performance advantages and the prospect of greater life when compared to reverse air filters.

 

THE PULSEJET FILTER AND THE ADDITION OF RECYCLED ASPHALT PRODUCTS.

The design of the pulsejet fabric filter is perfectly suited to plants where the addition of recycled asphalt products (RAP) is considered. The RAP often has a high moisture content and large volumes of steam are released when incorporating this material in an asphalt batching plant. This steam when introduced to a reverse air type fabric filter can be cooled by the atmospheric cleaning air and condensation can occur.

The small quantity of compressed cleaning air used by the pulsejet fabric filter has no detrimental effect on the incoming steam laden air from the asphalt plant. The result is significantly reduced internal corrosion and bag blinding when compared to a reverse air type filter.

THE PULSEJET FILTER AND THE USE OF WASTE OIL.

The design of the pulsejet fabric filter is also perfectly suited to plants where waste oil is burnt for the drying process. The combustion gases produced from waste oil are often high in sulphurous products which can combine with the moisture in the atmospheric air used by the reverse air fabric filter to accelerate the corrosion of the bag cages and top chamber. The small quantity of compressed cleaning air used by the pulsejet fabric filter has no detrimental effect on the incoming gases from the asphalt plant. The result is significantly reduced internal corrosion and bag blinding when compared to a reverse air type filter.
